More Big Things!

One thing about me… I hate waiting and that is exactly what I have been doing all day. Waiting for my blog to get moved over to my domain. Blahhh! So earlier today I had to get off the computer and stop hitting refresh every two minutes! I decided to start my workout! I didn’t want to run around my house because I was kind of getting sick of seeing the same views and running the same routes. So I went to a nearby park. I first looked it up online and on it said the path was 5 miles. I knew that couldn’t be true but I went anyways. I didn’t really set a time in my mind to run for but I wanted to get a 5 mile run in before my race on Sunday. It was beautiful out today. Perfect day to run.

The lap that I saw on the website was only about 1.5 miles. After that I knew it was going to be a long run. I hate just repeating and repeating and repeating that is why I try and do loops when I run instead of running around the block 50 times. Half way through my second loop I was like ahhh this is it I don’t want to do it anymore haha but I told myself I will just be 10000 times happier if I get it over with and just run the 5 miles! {there were also a couple of hills in the mix of this run} So what did I do… I ran 5 miles! (: I have only done this one other time before and since then I have come a longggg way! It is crazy how far you can come in a month! (:

I use the Nike+ GPS app to do my run so afterwards I looked at some of the options that it shows after your run.

This is one of them. It shows you how fast you ran at certain points. It is crazy to think that at my fastest I was running 6:22 and my slowest 12:36.. haha. So weird… Well anyways guess how long it took me to run those miles? Guess…. Guess…. Guess….

I ran 5 miles at a pace of 9:17 and a final time of 46:30 Woo Hoo! It is crazy what you can do when you put your mind to it. Right?!

Afterwards I was beat but I took a disgusting picture anyways! Yep… that is a whole hand of miles! (:
I went to my car, grabbed my water and a little after run snack and sat down to enjoy the view.

Yay fountain! This park is probably one of my favorite parks… It is just so beautiful!

I ate a Luna Bar… This is my second one. I tried one this past weekend and it was alright. I liked Caramel Nut Brownie a lot better! They were on sale at Giant this week so I had to grab a couple and give them a try.
Also on my run I spotted one of my favorite signs.

Do not feed the waterfowl. Isn’t that crazy? We grow up feeding ducks bread and now all of a sudden you can feed them? So weird. Do you know the reason why? Let me fill you in…. Ducks don’t stop eating when they are full. They just keep eating and eating and eating. So if people are feeding them they will eat until they burst… Or well that is what I have been told before! I still think it is fun to feed them though… (:
Oh and PS: today for the June picture of the day.. it is a sign! How convenient! (:

Well I just got an email saying the next step to self hosting is getting ready! Woot woot. Hopefully I won’t have to wait much longer!

Big Things Are Happening… Hopefully!

A giveaway that I won a couple weeks ago came in the mail yesterday! AHHH! Let me tell you I was super excited. This is my second giveaway that I have won since I started following blogs! It is just so much fun! So what exactly did I win…..

It was actually on sale this week… So the whole get up to $4.49 off didn’t work. It was $2.50 this week. I feel like I didn’t take full advantage of the coupon. haha. Oh Well. So I got the Fruit Blends kind with Bananas and Blueberry Granola! (:

To tell you the truth I probably would’ve never tried this cereal without the coupon. I’m not a big cereal fan. I mean I love it! I just don’t eat it! The last cereal I ate was Special K with strawberries in it {which is delicious} and that was probably like a year ago! So I was excited when I won.

Well I didn’t waste anytime before digging into the box. This morning I put together a yogurt parfait.

You can’t really see what was inside… but it was banana, strawberry yogurt, blueberries, and of course my new cereal! (: It was so delicious! The cereal is great and I am excited that granola is mixed in with the cereal!

Other good news to look out for! Last night I decided to go to self hosting and bought a domain name! I believe it is currently moving all of my awesome stuff over to my new name. Which when it is finished I will get to fill you in some more! This was a huge decision that I have been looking into for awhile now… it is also extremely scary! It also means though that I will be blogging for at least another year until my contract runs out haha! I know Eric is excited about that! (:

    Another huge thing in my blog I am using Windows Live Writer… You guys weren’t lying this is the easiest thing in the world… {well if it goes through} So anyways yesterday was a big day for me and itsaharleyyylife and I am excited for it to continue!

Last Week of Summer Shred!

So like I said in my post earlier today this is the last week for Summer Shred! I still can’t believe it. Out of all the workouts we have done… today was by far my favorite! It got me back on track, it was fun, and it felt good! So I’m going to share it with you so you can feel good too! (:

What you need… A deck of cards. Yep you heard me right. Unfortunately I had no idea where my deck was haha so I downloaded an iPhone app {duh, that phone can do anything} The one I downloaded is called Workout Deck of Cards or something like that. Here is a picture:

I got the free version which actually comes with a workout but I just ignored what they said to do and did the one from nhershoes. They do have a version you can buy for 2.99 and make the workouts custom.

So to the Summer Shred workout:

I hope the link stays with each workout so you can see what they are if not just YouTube them! So with the card you draw you do the number it says on the card and whatever the suit is you match that up to the workout!

This was great for a couple of reasons. Even if I was doing the same workout a whole bunch of times I didn’t get sick of them. Sometimes I do when I have a workout list and I have to go through it again and again. I wish I could just do a whole bunch of different exercises for the same amount of time it would take me to repeat the workout list 2 or 3 times.

Another reason I really enjoyed this workout was even though I got an Ace and had to do 14 of them in a row I knew after that Ace was done I didn’t have to do it again and that it was all down hill from there. So doing the bigger numbers really made it feel good instead of a drag. (:

I did mix things up a little bit though. As you can see when I drew a Joker I was supposed to run around the block well I tried to incorporate this workout with my run that was scheduled for today. So I decided I would run 4 miles. 1 before, when I draw the Jokers, and 1 after. The first mile I really pushed myself to get warmed up I finished in 8:12. Then it seemed like a Joker was never going to come up but it finally did maybe 2/3rds through the workout. So I went out and ran. I was pretty tired without taking very long breaks in between workouts. So I ran that one in 9:50 and then I came back home again and what did you know 2 cards later it was another Joker so I skipped that mile. There was no way that was happening. I ran my last mile after the workout. Another 9:50. So really I got 3 miles in and my #summershred2012 workout! (: {Perfect}

I also did my workout outside. Its nice out in the 70’s wind is blowing. I took my yoga mat put it on my back porch left the dogs to roam the house and jammed out to pandora. I faced my porch door though which was nice cause I could watch myself do the workouts to make sure I was doing them right the whole time. I’m always scared I’m doing them wrong. I also had some fans. Guess they just wanted to be with mommy! (:

Marvelous Monday and Getting a Move On.

One of the blogs I read is starting Marvelous Mondays…

Which is perfect for me… you know why? Mondays are my Saturdays! (: Woot Woot so of course they are Marvelous! (Well I guess I do work the next two Mondays because of my schedule changes but still!)Next: I am less than a week from my mud run! Ahhh. it is almost here. Remember when it was 30 days away!Because it is almost here I gotta get my butt in gear! I took Friday- Sunday off from running… {not good} but Friday I had relay {I did zumba though and I did my summershred workout} Saturday I had no time in between relay and work and Sunday I just wanted to rest and rest I did. Now though I need some motivation. Don’t you hate when that happens? Sometimes when you take awhile off from working out you just don’t want to! I am still just extremely exhausted though I don’t know why! Boo anyways gotta get moving! I am really excited for the Summer Shred workout today! I’m gonna head out the door soon and I think go to a local park to do it. I need to get out of this house or I’m never going to get stuff done like go to the grocery store, do my workout, get my run in, etc! I can’t wait to share the workout with you guys then. {I can’t believe this is the last week of summer shred what am I going to do when its over? start them up again? :P} Oh and I won this weeks sweet giveaway from nhershoes! I can’t wait for it to come in the mail! I’ve actually won a couple of other giveaways that I can’t wait to share with you guys! (:Another note starting yesterday I decided this week is going to be healthy eating week in the Brown/Reidenbach household! So far I’m going strong! All I wanted yesterday was a cookie but I held back. I want to feel good after this run on Sunday. Sweets and bad eating can be put on hold.

Relay For Life

Friday night we had a tornado watch… Well that moved our Relay For Life event indoors. Which was fine but the gym we were at was extremelyyy hot inside!
When I first got there I helped Steph and Joe (DJC Productions) set up the stage, lights, etc. We grabbed some lunch from a nearby pizza shop. I got a slice of cheese and then went to a cute coffee shop nearby to get a frozen coffee drink. I needed something to help me stay up because I was already extremely tired.

I helped people register, handed them their shirts, and helped with everything else that needed to be done. While I was doing that we had our survivor social where we supply a dinner for survivors. They apparently always have tons of extra though so pretty much everyone gets to dig in.

The two food pictures were from the survivor social that I ate! Chicken, Veggies, Pasta Salad, and of course a cupcake.
The last picture is just a balloon that was hanging around.

During Relay there were tonssssss of activities to do. We had dozens of themed laps {disney, favorite sports, purple, backwards, etc} I didn’t do much walking. I probably went around 10 times haha but I did partake in other activities…

Like the Pie Eating Contest.

Duh who could pass this up? For a dollar you got a plate full of graham cracker crumbs, pudding, whipped cream, and a cherry on top! About 15 people or so participated. I got a chocolate pudding one (there was also vanilla) I didn’t do very well. haha. Honestly I didn’t think the contest would go as long as it did but it was still fun. I just shouldn’t have ate so much during the day so I was hungry by the time this came. I did however make sure I got all of the whipped cream off (:

Sometime in between the activities was the luminaria ceremony. That is when you go around and light them with glow sticks and we have a little ceremony to remember or honor.
This part of the relay would’ve been a lot better if it was outside so the bags would’ve actually glowed {the lights in the gym didn’t go off} but it was still nice. My aunt bought two luminarias one for my aunt that has cancer and my nanny that just passed away from it.
I bought one for my step dad that passed away a couple years ago. It was nice to remember the times we had. I took a picture of his bag and I like he was there! (:
They also had those cool cut out boxes with {Hope, Remember, Fight Back, and Celebrate on them} they were really neat! Probably my favorite decoration for the night!

Another activity I decided to do later in the night: ZUMBA!

There I am in the bright yellow committee shirt! haha Looking awesome of course! Zumba was for a full hour and a blast! Eric just watched and laughed at me and by the end of it I was pretty sweaty {good thing I received 3 shirts at relay} We had a lot of people actually do it though!

The night continued and I got some goodies.

They were handing out the Snickers Marathon bars. They were sooooo good! Tasted just like a snickers but better for you! yay!
I also got some stuff from tastefully simple! A Honey Apple sauce to put on chicken and whatever else and a caramel mocha frapp mix! Maybe that will help me cut back on my trips to starbucks every other day? Lets hope!

The picture in the top left was a beauty contest for guys! Haha. Each team could have one guy dress up as girls. They each said a little bit about themselves, did a talent, and then walked around to the different teams to raise money! The guy that won had over 200 dollars! Yay Relay!

By that time we were all kinda slowing down. Steph and Joe brought a camper so Eric, Steph, and I decided to head out there for some shut eye. I wasn’t really planning on sleeping much but I did have to be at work the next day so I am glad I did. It was freezingggg though! I was surprised I didn’t freeze to death outside! {Good thing we had relay inside after all}

We woke up, grabbed some breakfast, and hung out with DJ Steph. Listening to “Call Me Maybe” x 100. {Duh!} I sat at the registration table some more in the morning to collect any money before the end of the event since there were a lot of different raffles going on throughout the night!

I had to leave early to come home shower and head to work but Steph texted me to let me know how much we made this year!

Right Around the Corner

Well June is right around the corner… (Tomorrow actually) and well I am super excited! (:
I have a packed month so I know its going to fly by when I’m just going to want it to slowwwww downnnn. You know the feelin’?

So why is it going to be so busy you may ask? Here are some reasons:
1. My work schedule is going to be switched around a lot. Eric won’t be able to keep up on what days I’m off and which days I’m not. (I’m off 1 entire weekend without using vacation days! woot woot!)
2.  The next weekend after that happens it is my Birthday Weekend! Sooo if you do the math right.. that is 2 weekends off in a row! WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I couldn’t be happier!
3. For my birthday we are going to the beach! (: Eric has a softball tournament there so I’m gonna tag along. Go to the beach, drink, and relax while he goes and plays.
4. My big Mud Run is in a little more than a week. I’m getting excited about it. A little nervous but I know Eric will be there and we will help each other along the way.
5. Tomorrow is Relayyy! So another day off from work! Woot Woot. I do though have to work on Saturday and will be dragging. Being up for 24 hours isn’t going to help my day at work. Oh well. haha.

So anyways. I won’t be able to blog tomorrow I just have wayyyy to much going on so I figured I would think up some June Goals:

1. Stick to a running plan. Maybe try 2 miles a day except on Tuesdays then do 1 and maybe Mondays knock out some more. With probably 2 rest days Wednesdays and Sundays maybe? I guess it really depends on my week! But I should put it on my calendar again!
2. Sign up for a 5k! I need to do it this time!
3. Try to eat 4 salads a week.
4. Teach Hunter how to go for walks and then take them on walks 3 a week!
5. Attend 2 fitblogs on Tuesday Nights
6. There are a few of blog/twitter/instagram things I am doing
Foodie Penpal! This is such a cool idea. Lindsay from The Lean Green Bean runs it.         Every month people sign up to do exactly what the title kinda says. She pairs you up  with another person that signed up and you send food to them. On the 5th I will get my penpal. Then I will contact them to see if there are any allergies or dietary restrictions. Then by the 15th I have to send out the box of goodies. The spending limit is $15. Then on the last day of the month I blog about it… How fun huh? If you are interested in doing it you have until the 4th to sign up. So go go go! You don’t have to be a blogger to sign up BTW! I’m looking at it as a great way to meet some more bloggers!

Blueberry Banana Bread

MMM. Just writing the title of this post makes me want more. Too bad I am at work. boo.
For a couple days now I have been staring at these on the counter:

and well they just had to go soon! So why not today! (Okay secretly I have been waiting for them to get like this because I have been seeing so many posts on blogs lately of banana bread and I was craving it)
Today was the day I was going to make it! I went to Courtney’s site again, the same one I got the patriotic cookie cake from for Memorial Day, to find the recipe she posted the other day. Well I went into her recipes and found one better! WITH BLUEBERRIES! Now duh this was perfect because I had all of these:

That is a lot of blueberries for just one little girl!
Off to make Blueberry Banana Bread it is!

1-1/4 cups whole-wheat flour
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1-1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas
1/2 cup fat-free liquid egg substitute (I used egg whites)
1/4 cup applesauce
1/8 cup blueberry flavored Chobani
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt

1. Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flours, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
3. In a medium mixing blow, combine mashed bananas, egg whites, applesauce,  yogurt and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly.

4. Add the wet ingredietns to the bowl of dry ingredients and stir until just blended.
5. Gently fold in as many blueberries that you want. I put in like 4 big handfuls but I also had a bunch of blueberries.
6. Spoon batter into a loaf pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.

7. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

I let it sit just enough time that it took me to shower and then I was right back downstairs digging in.

Half of the piece I ate I kept plain the other I put some peanut butter on top! DELICIOUS! It tasted like a PB and Jelly Sandwich. haha. I’m in love…

I packed some for a snack before dinner and now I wish I had more with! (:

FitBlog Chats

Today starts another fun and exciting work week. Luckily I have Friday off! Woot Woot. RELAY FOR LIFE is almost here! Saturday I might be dead tired at work but it will all be worth it!

Last night before bed I was on twitter seeing what was going on and I came across a fitblog chat. So I dived right on in to see what it was all about.

Apparently they take place every Tuesday from 9 -10pm. They ask some questions and you respond. I figured this would be great for me to start getting involved in since Tuesdays are my Sundays it would be nice to just reflect on my fitness.

This is what the screen looks like if you have never seen one before. You have a moderator that asks the questions and then you can answer them and retweet peoples with a response to what they said and all that fun stuff! I liked it! I’m a fan and stuck it on my calendar for next Tuesday!
