WIAW 5.30.12

Another edition of WIAW! (:I’m going to show you yesterdays eats plus today’s breakfast because I just chowed down.Breakfasts:

Yesterday I had the Summer Berry Oatmeal that I bought the other day.  With a side of coffee. It was good. I mixed in some strawberry greek yogurt and some blueberries. It was a good mix.

Today I had the Apple Walnut. I mixed the same things in.
Review: Now that I have tried all three of them. (Peach, Berry, Apple Walnut) I decided I’d let you know my opinion about them. Apple Walnut was definitely my favorite. Berry was good too though. I just always grew up with Apple Cinnamon oatmeal so I guess I’m kinda bias. I didn’t like peach as much as I thought I would.
The one thing I liked about them was the fact that I could read all the ingredients and understand them.

Its kinda hard to read (iPhone pic) but believe me you would understand them all too! So power to Quaker for that one. The one thing I noticed about all of them is that they are very sweet. The apple one says  22 grams of sugar… which I think is a lot. I mean i’m not a dietitian. It could also be because for the past 2 years I have only had sugar free oatmeal. I dunno what do you guys think? Lunch:
Yesterdays lunch was kinda thrown together at the last minute. I decided to visit Eric at work to eat with him. So I looked to see what we had in the fridge and most of it was leftovers from yesterday.

Ham and cheese sandwich and a side of potato salad.

We have tons of chips leftover though from our Memorial Day picnic so I put some of them in my sandwich too. Talk about throwback I used to do that all the time as a kid!Snack:
I got pretty hungry around 3 but I didn’t want to eat dinner then because I knew I had to go into work for a meeting and that pizza would be there and I didn’t want to chow down on that. So I made a quick snack.

Blueberry yogurt with blueberries and some pretty old granola. But I needed something sweet and crunchy. It was good and I’m still alive! Dinner:
Right before I had to go in for my meeting I made myself a salad.

I chopped up the rest of my lettuce that I picked from the deck.
Put some chicken in the oven and topped it off with some ranch dressing and dried cranberries. It was pretty delicious. Dessert: Before bed I had some dessert. One of the smart ones that I showed you last week. With the cookie dough sundae. It was delicious. That concludes this week of What I Ate Wednesday.Question: Do you guys put anything kinda weird on your sandwiches like how I put chips on mine?

Patriotic Cookie!

Like I told you in my Memorial Day post I made this sweet recipe that I found on Courtney’s Blog.

Patriotic Stars & Stripes Cookie Cake

Here is what you do. For the Cookie:

1 Cup Butter
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
1 egg (I used egg whites)
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 tsp Almond Extract
2 3/4 Cups Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 10x15x1 baking pan with foil.
2. Combine butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and extracts and thoroughly combine.

3. In separate bowl mix flour, baking powder, and salt.

4. Gradually add flour mixture to the wet ingredients 1 cup at a time.

5. Press dough mixture into pan.

6. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool Completely.

Now to the frosting:

8 oz Cream Cheese, softned
3 cups Powdered Sugar
50 Blueberries
1 pint Strawberries

1.  Mix together softened cream cheese and powdered sugar with electric mixer until smooth.

2. Spread evenly on cookie.

3. Arrange berries on top like the American Flag.

Eric actually put all 50 blue berries on and I put the strawberries. It was hard to find small strawberries because the ones you get at the grocery stores these days are like on steroids and huge! So there weren’t 13 stripes but you get the idea.

When we first dug into it I couldn’t believe how thick it was.

Look at that!
I would definitely recommend this for any party!

annddd I might go grab some right now… mmm!

Memorial Day

Ugh… A day when Eric and I are both off work! Perfect! I was pretty excited to have people off on the same day as my Saturday. Instead of everyone being at work!
I started the day with a 4 mile run! woot woot! I really didn’t want anything to do it. I even told Eric on my way out the door it might be shorter.
But with all the cheers coming my way I knew I had to finish it! (thanks guys! (:)

I was quite proud of myself when I was finished. I ran 5 miles once but this was the 2nd longest run I ever completed.  I think it got to my head a little. It was hot, it was a long run, I was tired, it was a party day, I didn’t have much motivation!

The first mile I ran in 9:30 the second my overall average was 9:40 the third 10:04 and at the end I finished with a 10:00 mile. It was tough. I’m not going to lie. I was happy to get it over with though. I came home and did my Summer Shred workout… well part of it. I’m not going to lie I had a lot to do and it was stressing me out.

The next thing I did was so exciting! I picked my lettuce! (:
I told Eric to document my picking and he took 10000 photos on my phone. Thanks babe… now what am I going to do with them all?!

Then it was time to bake. I found this recipe on Courtney’s Blog.

It was a baking success! I will share the recipe with you guys tonight so you can make it for the Fourth of July! (:

I took a shower and got ready for the partayyyy! I wore the cute dress I bought the other day from Marshalls. The black one with flowers on it! The dress matched my freshly done nails perfectly!

I didn’t take many photos.. just one of the day/night but it was a blast! Filled with food, drinks, friends, dogs, and backyard games!

I did take a picture of my first round of food! Cheeseburger (with my home grown lettuce! which was delicioussss!) and some buffalo chicken dip on the side! Yum!
Eric ended up making more food later in the night for dinner. I had a hot dog then. Eric did a great job manning the grill I told him he will have to do it more often!
We also chopped up the dessert I made earlier and ate that! I loved that dessert! I’ll tell you about that later when I give you the recipe! (:

When 8pm hit walking into the air conditioned house all I wanted to do was sleep! haha. It was a long day in the heat, drinking, eating… I even got a headache which I blame the pollen. When I hit the pillow I was out.

It was the perfect Saturday. I never get a day that feels like a “weekend” so it was nice!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Wow I have been super busy. Well I mean I’ve been busy outside of work. Eric was off Friday- Monday so I didn’t have much time to blog… and I guess I had time at work but I just have no motivation then.

So i’ll recap you on my weekend all day today andddd it involves an amazing recipe! (: (I realized I haven’t done much cooking or baking in a verrrryyyyy long time… isn’t that so weird?)

On Sunday Eric decided to celebrate this months secret date!  It was his turn to pick one out for me! since he didddd just buy me a doggie I decided just a small date would be good. Plus it was getting to the end of the month and we didn’t have a lot of time in our busy schedules until June.
So back up… I woke up… didn’t clip coupons.. because there weren’t any… had some coffee… and went and got my nails done. (ugh that takes forever.. but its always better when my nails are pretty)

Purple for Relay! and yes I do have more than three fingers. (:
I came home and it was off to have a picnic. So we packed the dogs in the car and headed to a park nearby.

Love his picnic basket? haha.
Eric went to the store and made us a salad to share, some subs (turkey and cheese for me and I think he got american?), some grapes on the side. It was delicious. We picked a picnic table and dug in.
We went to this park because there was a dog park inside so we could let the dogs run around a little.

The boys did so good while Eric and I ate. I really think Harleyyy has calmed down A LOT since we got Hunterrr. It is nice.
When we took them to the dog park they were the only two in the little dogs area. Hunterrr stayed under the picnic table for awhile but sometimes he headed out and ran around with Harleyyy. (see pictures above)
On our way home Hunterrr was out

Fell asleep in daddys arms. Isn’t he cute?! I guess to much excitement for one day!

Just Stoppin By

Not much has been going on today. I’ll break it down for you though.

1. I woke up this morning, ran 3 miles. Boy was that rough. It was already hot outside by 9 am. Boo. Thank goodness for a rest day tomorrow!

2. I got ready for the day and then fell back asleep… whoops!

3. Eric and I went to Costco and Giant to get stuff for Memorial Day! I’m making a pretty sweet dessert that I’m pretty excited about! Plus I got tons of free samples to snack on at Costco. That is really the only reason we go… lets be honest!
Then I made Eric stop at DD to get an iced coffee.

Blueberry Syrup of course.

4. We came home put everything away and Eric was out the door to ump softball at a tournament.

5. I cleaned. Hung out with the dogs. Ate this amazing lunch

Bananas, Justin’s Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Honey in a Crepe.

6. Before I left for work I let the dogs outside and watered the plants. Check them out:
I really gotta figure out what to do with that Basil.. and AHHHH LOOK LOOK! That is a Green Pepper forming!

And look at all this LETTUCE! I’m gonna be chowing down on that on Monday. It is going to go perfect on some burgers! Woot Woot!

My mom calls me a farmer… I’d have to agree! (:

Shopping Spree

Earlier this week I told Eric I was in the mood to shop. (When isn’t a girl in the mood right?) Well he told me on Friday since he had the day off that we could go! YAY! I told him that if he went with and he didn’t whine when there I would give him $100 to spend. Considering he always buys me stuff here and there it really was the least I could do.

So our shopping spree started at Marshalls. I tried on 1000 dresses but these two came home as winners

The green one is really cute and plain and has pockets… what is a dress without pockets? thats right it isn’t one! (:
and the one on the right is super cute as well. It is a floral pattern. No pockets though.
They were both extremely cheap as well maybe like 15 each!

I also got a workout shirt

I loved this when I tried it on. It was long so it won’t ride up as I run. A sports bra is built in. Plus it was under armor… which I love.
You see today I really wanted to find some workout clothes. For christmas I got tons of shorts (enough for a week) and I just use tshirts that I have collected over the years but I wanted some workout shirts like good quality ones. Not just the cotton short sleeves. So this was a success!

Next we headed to Target. You can never go wrong there.
I searched around in the womans department while Eric went off to try to find some things for him.
I got some shirts
On the left is a cute salmon color shirt. It was a flowy fit which makes me feel good on days when i’m not feeling as skinny.
and the shirt on teh right is see through and long. So it would be good with leggings or over a bathing suit. It was also very comfy.
Oh and by the way all the clothes I bought at Target were on SALE! Nothing more than 10 dollars! That is the way to go.
I also got this verrrryyy cute jacket!

Eric said it wasn’t me at all but boy was he wrong! It even has shoulder pads! Duh.. sholder pads+me go hand in hand! Catch up babe!

I found some more workout stuff

A sports bra and another t-shirt.  I’m excited to try on the sports bra. I never had a back like this one so I want to see how much it really is different.

Right before I got into the dressing room Eric found me. He had the weirdest things in his cart. I thought he would buy clothes or I dunno but the stuff he picked up I would’ve never thought.

A bean bag toss and tic tac toe set, wiffle ball and extra balls, a movie, a ice cream scoop, and some baby outfits for one of his softball teammates that just had a kid! I guess Eric had Memorial Day Weekend on his mind with all this random stuff!

He also had this

For the dogs. Unfortunately it isn’t big enough for the places we want it to go… guess thats what we get for getting the cheap one but we are going to see if it works anyways!
I talked about getting one of these because sometimes I want to sit outside on the deck but we only have one tie out for Harleyyy which is fine because Hunter can’t really get away but sometimes I just want to close my eyes and relax a little but I’m to scared cause Hunter may get away or I won’t find him so maybe if we keep the two on the deck that would be easier? We shall see.

After the clothing part of the trip we headed over to the food! I wanted to see if they had the peanut butter I hear about all the time and got in my starbucks protein box the other day with my Viggle Gift Card.

and look what I found! Woot Woot. They had a couple of the big containers for $11 and I wasn’t 100% sure that I was going to LOVE it for that price anyways so I got the smaller packets to try it out first. I also got some of the new oatmeal containers. They look delicious and tomorrow I might try out the peach one… Doesn’t peach sound good?!

We then ended the trip by going to Lids. Eric wanted a new hat and when I found one for $5 I couldn’t resists. I mean I was already spending money I should just keep spending.

Eric got a Notre Dame hat and I got a cute Nike one. I’ve been on the lookout for a cute workout hat that I can just throw on when I dont feel like doing my hair! haha glad I could find one!

Today I told you that Eric came home early from work! YAY! It was a rainy day though.. BOO!

I asked him what he wanted to do since he had a short day and he said go to the movies. I didn’t really feel like it but I sucked it up and went anyways. We went to see Battleship.

I’d give it a C+
It was kinda like Armageddon to me. It wouldn’t have been so bad if it wasn’t soooo long. There were some smart one liners in it though that made me laugh but I wouldn’t waste my money to see it in the theatre if I were you. I knew we should’ve went and saw one of the movies I wanted to see like the 5 year engagement or the lucky one.

I guess there is always next time! (:

Summer Shred. Week 2, Day 4.

Todays workout… HARD! It might have been because I am extremely sore or because the workouts are just getting extremely harder! haha. I decided to skip on my run today for several reasons.
1. I’m sore.
2. Eric got to come home from work early today.
3. Todays workout tired me out.

It is okay though I need a day off from running I have been doing really good lately.

Todays workout that I’m going to share with you today is Wide Squat Pulses.

It is pretty self explanatory but your thighs are burninggg up a storm. We had to do 50 pulses.
So you spread your legs wide get in a squat position and pulse.
Try it! It is loads of fun! 😛

Rant Time:
I have to share with you one of the most amazing things I have had for lunch… EVER!

Peanut Butter on a Sweet Potato. I saw it on some blogs recently and I just had to try it… 2 of my favorite things combined and let me tell you, you need to try it! ASAP! I find myself craving it already!  Yummy!

I will end this afternoons blog with a cute little picture

This was cuddle time last night! Aren’t they adorable!
